Oman bundled out for 24 against Scotland
New Delhi: Oman plunged to the fourth-lowest List-A score in cricket history, after they were bundled out by Scotland for only 24 runs at the Al-Amerat Cricket Ground on Tuesday. Khawar Ali (15) was the only player who managed to reach double-digit score, as five Oman batsmen were out for naught. This was the fourth-lowest total in List A cricket. Scotland’s Adrian Neill and Ruaidhri Smith shared four wickets each as the hosts were all out inside 18 overs. In response, Scotland chased the target down in the fourth over, winning with 280 balls to spare. In all, only 20.3 overs were bowled in the match. (UNI)

Indonesia submits formal bid to host 2032 Olympic Games
Jakarta: Indonesia has submitted a bid to host the 2032 Olympics, officials said on Tuesday, after the Southeast Asian nation’s widely lauded handling of the Asian Games last summer. Muliaman Hadad, Indonesia’s ambassador to Switzerland, submitted a formal bid letter from President Joko Widodo to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Lausanne last week, the foreign ministry confirmed Tuesday. “This is the right moment to show Indonesia’s capability as a big country,” Hadad said in a statement made public this week. Widodo publicly expressed Indonesia’s interest in hosting the 2032 event in the capital, Jakarta, during last year’s Asian Games — the world’s second biggest multi-sport event behind the Olympics. India has also expressed an interest in hosting the 2032 games while North and South Korea have said they might enter a joint bid. The IOC will announce the 2032 host by 2025. (AFP)

ODI series: New Zealand take on B’desh in third match today
Dunedin: New Zealand will take on Bangladesh in the third and final One Day International (ODI) of the three-match series here at University Oval on Wednesday. The hosts have already sealed the series with 2-0 unassailable lead and now are looking to whitewash the visitors. Sailing looks tough for Bangladesh with two of its key players recovering from injuries. While Mohammad Mithun, the most consistent batsman in the series, has suffered a hamstring injury, wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim is also grappling with the resurfacing of an earlier rib injury. Mithun, who scored a fifty in each game, was by far the most solid-looking. Wicket-keeper Rahim has been under observation. He reportedly did not practice with the team ahead of the match, and his participation seems uncertain. In the wake of these injuries, other senior campaigners like Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah need to step up as they have failed to get starts in the two games so far. In the New Zealand camp, the bowlers will have to keep up their performance to continue their dominance over the rival batters. Among the batsmen, captain Kane Williamson will be missed as he has been rested. Martin Guptill, who has scored hundreds in both the games, will be striving to continue his dominance with the bat.
