NEEPCO assures power during MDC polls despite huge unpaid dues

SHILLONG: The NEEPCO which has regulated power supply to Meghalaya owing to its huge unpaid dues of over Rs  550  crore has assured that MDC elections will not be disrupted

Highly placed officials of NEEPCO on Monday said that the NEEPCO would not disrupt the power supply to Meghalaya on the account of MDC elections.

Currently, the MeECL is resorting to load shedding for one hour every night and it is the students who  are likely to face disturbances due to power cut since the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination, 2019 (HSSLC)   are set to begin from March 1.

The secondary school leaving certificate examination  (SSLC) examinations too are set to start from March  5  and thousands of students from across the state will appear for the exams.

The NEEPCO which supplies around  140-150 mw of power to Meghalaya regulated its power supply since Meghalaya Government has to clear dues of over Rs  550 crore.
