Khandu directs strict monitoring of situation

GUWAHATI: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday convened a high-level meeting to review the law and order situation in the state capital.
The chief minister directed all officials concerned for strict monitoring of the situation and for regular police patrol in all sensitive areas in the state capital so that confidence of people can be gained for them to resume their regular activities without fear.
He said though protest in last few days were against the government but in the mayhem, many private properties were damaged, shops looted, malls ransacked. He said the protests were also fuelled by unwanted elements and all such involvements would be investigated and those responsible would be booked accordingly as per the law.
The chief minister, while reviewing the security situation, called for revamping the entire police machinery to effectively tackle large scale rioting in the future issuing strict instructions to all concerned officers to immediately buckle up and to get back to work.
The chief minister, during the discussion, also directed the chief secretary to move files for immediate release of Rs 20 lakh ex-gratia to the next kin of all the deceased and upto Rs 10 lakh medical relief for those injured.
