SHILLONG: Former MLA and UDP leader, Paul Lyngdoh, who contested Wednesday’s council elections from Jaiaw constituency, has asserted that the results will reflect the lack of confidence of the people of the state in national parties as they would opt for state-based political parties.
Talking to media persons here on Wednesday, Lyngdoh said that elections remind people of the vibrancy of democracy.
He also said that his priority would be to tone up the administration besides ensuring that the bills which have been passed by the council are implemented.
“We need to restore the dignity and sanctity of the district councils,” he said.
Meanwhile, some voters said that the district councils need leaders who have principles and understand politics inside out. Some others said that the district councils in Meghalaya need experienced leaders who can work for the jaitbynriew.
