TURA: The All Garo Hills 4th Teachers’ Association (AGH4thTA) has urged the state government to enhance the salary of over 1500 4th teachers in the state.

A delegation of the association recently met Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui and home Minister James K Sangma and sought their intervention on the matter.

During their meeting, the association members urged the government to enhance their salaries from the current Rs 12,000/- to Rs 20,493 at par with that of assistant teachers of SSA schools in view of the workload being the same.

“There are altogether 1513 4th teachers in the state and they are all facing a lot of difficulties to maintain their families due to this disparity in the pay scale,” the association said.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister is said to have assured the delegation that the government would try to resolve the matter.
