GUWAHATI: The authority in Kaziranga National Park (KNP) has received a brand new utility vehicle, a Maruti Gypsy, on Tuesday from International Rhino Foundation (IRF) at the initiative of Aaranyak, a biodiversity conservation organisation based in Northeast.
The vehicle was handed over to the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Kaziranga National Park (KNP), Rohini Ballav Saikia by Deputy Director of the IRF, Cece Shepherd and Secretary General and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Aaranyak, Dr Bibhab Kumar Talukdar at a brief ceremony held at the office of the Director of the KNP and Wildlife Division on Tuesday.
Handing over the Gypsy to the KNP authority, the CEO of Aaranyak, Dr Talukdar informed that two more vehicles would be handed over to Kaziranga National Park (KNP) authority soon.
The brief ceremony was attended among others by representative of IRF, Rahul Datta and other officers and staff of the Forest Department.
Aaranyak in collaboration of various donor agencies and with support from the authority of Kaziranga National Park and Assam Forest Department have facilitated various equipment, vehicles etc., to boost wildlife conservation efforts in the national park that is home to over 2000 precious one-horned Indian rhinoceros besides various other species including tiger, Asiatic buffalo, swamp deer, elephants etc.
