TURA: A father-son duo died of electrocution when they came into contact with a live wire while attempting to hook a line during work in a field at Patharkata village of Bogularbita under Tikrikilla police station on Monday.
According to police, the two reportedly tried to manually hook onto a main power line that was passing through the field they were working on so as to operate a water pump when tragedy struck. The deceased, identified as Abed Ali (54) and Alal Uddin (28), hail from Airkata village of Fakirganj in Dhubri, Assam.
They had been working for the land owner for the past five years and are believed to have regularly used such a rudimentary method to draw power for their work in the field leading to this tragedy.
There have been rising cases of electrocution deaths in the Garo Hills over the past few years.
