SHILLONG: The UDP chief Donkupar Roy said BJP going it alone in the Lok Sabha polls will prove wrong the allegation of Congress that UDP and NPP are having nexus with the saffron party.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Roy also said the MDA alliance partner BJP contesting separately will not affect the prospects of the party candidate Jeminor Mawthoh in the Lok Sabha polls.
To a question on the role of UDP in NEDA, the UDP leader said since NEDA is a loose combination, the party will associate with it only when there are common issues concerning the region.
When pointed out about the AGP-BJP alliance
in Assam for the Lok Sabha polls, the UDP leader said as far as Meghalaya is concerned, the MDA has decided to support the UDP for the Shillong seat whereas NPP will get the support of MDA alliance partners minus BJP in Tura.
To a query, Roy said the regional parties in the North East will decide on their future course of action after the polls.
