TURA: The Tura Government College Students’ Union (TGCSU) has submitted a complaint to the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner alleging lack of punctuality by the non-teaching staff of the college.

A delegation of the union led by President, Tengku A Sangma and General Secretary, John Ch Sangma along with other leaders on Thursday met the deputy commissioner and apprised him off their grievances.

In their complaint, the union alleged the non-teaching staff of coming to attend office only at around 11: 20 am and leaving at 3:00 pm which according to them, is not enough time to complete necessary  official work, in view of the large number of students.

“The office hour starts from 10 am and students queue up at the college counter even before the staff comes and opens it. By the time the staff arrives, there is a long line and they are unable to complete the official works of each and every student,” John Ch Sangma, the General Secretary of the union claimed.

According to the union, the matter was earlier also brought to the notice of the Principal but sadly there has been no action till date.

The union urged the Deputy Commissioner to personally look into the matter and direct the staff to maintain office hours, to ensure that offices in the college opens up in time at 10 am, to cater to the various needs of the students.
