Khalistan Commando Force militant arrested
New Delhi: A member of the banned terrorist group and an associate of Jarnail Singh Bhinderwale, who was killed by the Indian Army in ‘Operation Blue Star’ in 1984 was nabbed by the Delhi police, officials said on Wednesday. The accused Gursewak Singh (53), is a member of Khalistan Commando Force (KCF) and was planning to re-constitute his organization on directions of KCF chief Paramjeet Singh Panjwad, who was based in Pakistan, police said. Singh was also in touch with Jagtaar Singh Hawara and other terrorists lodged in various jails in India including Tihar jail, police said adding Gursewak was arrested by the crime branch from ISBT Delhi on March 12 where he had come to meet one of his contacts. Gursewak was previously involved in more than 50 cases of terrorist activities, murders of police officials and informers, robberies in banks and police station among others, said Ajit Kumar Singla, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime). He remained in jail for more than 26 years in different cases and was in regular touch with some Pakistan based terrorists. Police said Singh was born in a farmer family residing in Raikot village in Punjab’s Ludhiana district. His elder brother Swaran Singh was a member of terrorist group led by Bhinderwale in Punjab in 1980s. (PTI)

Soldier in Pulwama
Srinagar: Militants shot dead a soldier on Wednesday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Police said the militants shot 25-year old Ashiq Hussain of the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry in his Penglina village. “He was shifted to hospital where he succumbed to critical injuries,” a police officer said. The security forces have launched a hunt to track down the assailants. (IANS)

Woman Maoist cadre killed
Bhubaneswar: A woman Maoist cadre was killed in an exchange of fire inside a forest under Tumudibandh block in Kandhamal district on Wednesday. A senior Police Officer said acting on a tip-off, the jawans of Special Operation Group(SOG) and District Voluntary Force conducted a joint combing operation in the area. During the combing operation, the Maoist opened fire at the security personnel which they retaliated. In the exchange of fire a woman Maoist was killed while others managed to escape. The body has not yet been identified. The security personnel later seized four guns, three grenades and some Maoists articles from the encounter spot. (UNI)

Man dies after hair transplant
Mumbai: A 43-year-old businessman died in hospital in Powai here last week, within almost 40 hours after he underwent a 12-hour-long hair transplantation procedure at a clinic, police said Wednesday. The businessman, identified as Shrawan Kumar Choudhary, had attended a hair transplant session at a private clinic at Chinchpokli in central Mumbai on March 7 rpt March 7, a police official said. Choudhary, a resident of Sakinaka, suffered complications soon after the procedure which ended at 2:30 am on March 8 (Friday), he said. Choudhary was taken to a hospital in suburban Powai the next day, after he developed breathlessness and swelling in his throat and on face, the official said. He died on Saturday (March 9) evening due to allergic reaction in the hospital, he said. (PTI)

7 nabbed for playing PUBG
Rajkot: The police in Rajkot city has nabbed seven youths for playing the PUBG online game which was banned by the Education Department in Gujarat in January this year. The city police had also issued a notification banning the game. Police said that the seven youths were nabbed from different places and on checking their mobile the PUBG gaming system was on. Those nabbed yesterday have been identified as Ketan Muliya (25, resident of Bhidbanjan Sheri caught from near Neptune tower on Kalawad road in Gandhigram area of the city), Madhav Vyas (19, resident of Sapanlok society nabbed near Jagnath chowk), Yash Joshi (22, resident of Ghulab Vihar), Neel Adhera (19, resident of Junagadh), Harnish Panchal (20), Kalpesh Rathod (19), Harkishan Bangrotia (19, resident Jamnagar) (all five nabbed from near Atmiya college on Kalavad road of the city). Scaffolding collapses: 4 injured
Panaji: Four persons were injured after a scaffolding erected for the construction of a major bridge in Goa across the Zuari river collapsed on Wednesday, an official said. The incident occurred in the afternoon when the metal scaffolding supporting a concrete slab collapsed, injuring the workers onsite. “Four workers have sustained minor injuries and have been hospitalised. A probe has been initiated,” a South Goa district administration spokesperson said. The eight-lane Zuari bridge connecting South Goa and North Goa districts is one of the poll promises of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition government. (IANS)
