SHILLONG: Congress MLA from Rajabala Azad Zaman has suggested that the Garo Hills region can be turned into a village tourist site like South Africa that can generate employment.
Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, Zaman reiterated that Razpur is a historical place in his constituency comprising five to six Assembly constituencies and it should be transformed into a district.
Stating that Garo Hills has so many historical place where even surveys were conducted by the Archaeological Survey of India, he stated that many of them are unattended by the government till now.
The MLA said these tourist projects should be taken up under the Swadesh Darshan project of the Union Government.
He also stressed on the need to open a Chief Minister’s office in Tura.
