BSF seizes liquor, cattle & drugs worth over Rs 1 cr

SHILLONG: The Border Security Force (BSF), on Saturday, seized illegal liquor worth around Rs 2.5 lakh from Kurikhal in East Khasi Hills.
The BSF seized the consignment coming from Shillong during a joint operation with Meghalaya police at Kurikhal. One person, identified as Wompher Blah (42), was apprehended. The vehicle he was driving was laden with 77 cartons of liquor (3,588 bottles).
The apprehended person and seized items were handed over to the department concerned.
With the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, BSF has intensified its operations across the Indo-Bangladesh border. Last week, it seized around 200 cattle and contraband items worth more than Rs 1.2 crore.
