Shillong: 103-year-old Anis Syiemlieh is the oldest person till date to visit the Passport Seva Kendra at Shillong, informed Malthus Sangma, Deputy Passport Officer, Ministry of External Affairs.
“It is amazing that he is strong enough to come to the PSK all alone. When asked how he keeps fit at his age, Syiemlieh said he eats simple, rural food, does not smoke or drink alcohol and does not chew betel nut either,” said Malthus Sangma.
Anis Syiemlieh’s date of birth is January 1, 1916. He lives in Umroi, Ri Bhoi District.
His reason for applying for a passport is to visit his eldest sister, who lives in Sylhet, Bangladesh and who is about 10-12 years his senior.
Despite his age, Anis Syiemlieh has a perfect sense of humour which is perhaps the reason for his longevity.
