Three dead, 5 injured in separate incidents
On March 24, one Anowar Hussain (35) was found lying injured at Umtyrnga village in Ri Bhoi. He was shifted to Byrnihat PHC and subsequently referred to Gauhati Medical College Hospital for treatment, but succumbed to his injuries.
One Mali Makri (65) died after he was knocked down by a motorcycle (AS 01 DS 5826) being ridden by Sagar Yadav on March 23 on NH-6 at Dulongnar. The motorcyclist and pillion rider also sustained injuries. The three were shifted to Civil Hospital, Nongpoh where Mali Makri was declared brought dead.
One Nangjin S Sangma died after the three-wheeler he was travelling in met with an accident at Ampati on March 23. Five other occupants sustained injuries and were shifted to Civil Hospital, Ampati for treatment.
Assault
Acheelal Prasad has lodged a complaint that he and his brother were assaulted while they were trying to pacify a warring group at 4th Furlong.
On March 22, Joffar Hussain Niharia lodged a complaint that a certain Md Umar assaulted his daughter at Police Bazar.
Kandius Nongsiej filed a complaint on March 22 that Ebanesar Lyngkhoi assaulted Edwin Nongsiej at Khtiehthawiat village of West Khasi Hills causing grievous injuries to him.
Pinky Kharlukhi lodged a complaint on March 21 that around 9.30 pm Sunny Tamang assaulted her at Barik Point.
On March 21 around 3.30 pm, Samira Khatoon, Nur Islam and his family members sustained injuries in an assault by unknown miscreants at 4th Furlong.
Truck drivers held
Police apprehended the drivers of four coal-laden trucks (AS-01L-4287, AS-01DD-8892, AS-01AC-6892 and AS-01KC-5253)-driven by Ashraf Ali, Rahmat Ali, Jintu Roy and Mahamad Ali respectively – on way to Rongjeng in East Garo Hills on March 22.
Duped
Three persons namely Bennyson Shadap, Johnli Marwein and Meltinora Mangu – have lodged separate complaints against one Pyndaplang Nongrum stating that he had purchased vehicles in their names and had failed to repay the loans taken through Mahindra Finance.
