Final polling in Selsella re-poll records 93 percent

TURA: The final polling percentage in the re-poll on Monday at Konachar polling station of Selsella constituency in West Garo Hills for both the Tura Lok Sabha seat and the assembly by-poll has been officially pegged at 93 percent with 14 less votes than the April 11th election.

Monday’s re-poll took place due to a mix-up of the EVMs meant for the Lok Sabha election and the Assembly by-poll on April 11th.

There were two EVMs at the booth and the presiding officer there connected the ballot unit meant for the Lok Sabha election with the control unit of the Selsella by-poll while the control unit of the Lok Sabha seat was connected to the ballot unit for the by-poll leading to a cancellation and repolling.

Out of a total of 712 eligible voters under Konachar polling station, 665 cast their ballot for the Lok Sabha and 663 for the assembly by-poll. This is 14 votes less than the April 11th election (668 for Lok Sabha) and (674 for assembly by-poll).

Earlier, as polls opened in the morning a large number of voters turned up at the polling station to cast their vote as polling percentage touched 42 percent as early as 11 in the morning.

By 1 O’clock in the afternoon the polling percentage had risen to 66% as more of the eligible voters turned up to exercise their franchise. The final tally was pegged at 93 percent.

Total voters: 712

Lok Sabha election: Male 321 and Female 344 cast their votes.

Assembly by-poll: Male 319 and Female 344 cast their votes.
