SHILLONG:  The Meghalaya Police online complaint portal was launched way back in the year  2016  but very few complaints have been lodged through the system but now the police want more and more people to launch their complaints online in this digital era

It may be mentioned that Meghalaya Police Department is  implementing Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) which is a Mission Mode Project of Government of India.

Under CCTNS Project all Police Stations and Higher Police Offices in the State and across the Country are being networked. For convenience all Police officers are interconnected and work is undertaken in a centralized application.

Meghalaya Police  says that it is committed towards time-bound delivery of services to the citizens and provide good governance in the State  and in order to provide better and quick services to Citizens, Meghalaya Police have launched Online “Citizen Portal” under CCTNS Project.

A police official dealing with the portal said that in this portal, a citizen who wants to lodge a complaint first needs to register and create a login ID and then the concern citizen can lodge their complaint accordingly.

Since a complaint number will be allotted to the complainant, he can also track the status of the  complaint online from time to time, adding once the complaint is lodged, it lands in the concerned police station after which police would start the investigation.

Police  said that since the service was launched in  2016, very few complaints have been lodged by the citizen using the  system and hence now police now want to make people aware about the system so that more and more people file their complaints online.

The portal has different useful links  about rights of citizens, duties of the Officer-in-Charge of the police station, mission of state police  and contact details of the  officials of the Meghalaya Police.
