SHILLONG: The Dorbar Shnong of Nongdhar under Nartiang constituency recently attempted to ostracise local resident, San Jone Laloo over political differences.
When contacted, a police official admitted that there was an attempt to ostracise Laloo, but the police intervened and prevented it.
The official said that Laloo was questioned for having supported Congress candidate, Jeweller Synrem, who did not have the support of the Dorbar.
It may be mentioned that the Dorbar had chosen to lend its support to NPP candidate Thombor Shiwat.
The official informed that the incident took place after the council elections but came to light only recently.
“We were informed of such an incident and the police went to verify. They attempted to ostracise him, but we told the village to not do so,” the official said.
“We will not allow the Dorbar to ostracise him.”
“We will conduct a follow up and contact Laloo to ask about his well being and tell him to report to us if anything happens,” he added.
According to the source, the matter is now under enquiry and will be resolved at the village level.
