SHILLONG: The preliminary survey study of the much delayed Western bypass has been completed according to the consultant of the project
An official with the PWD (NH) said the consultant came for preliminary studies and it will provide the state PWD with options on how the bypass should go.
Once the approval is given for alignment by the PWD, the consultant will prepare a detailed project report. The two laning with paved shoulder of Western Bypass of Shillong which is a 42 kilometre project, is supposed to be taken up at a cost of 258.37 crore. The project is expected to ease traffic congestion in Shillong.

The official also said the land acquisition for the Shillong-Dawki road is progressing well and a meeting was held recently where it was informed that there are not many issues as far as land acquisition is concerned.
“In the areas, where there are land acquisition issues, those are being resolved,” the official said.
