School headmaster accused of illegal stone mining
SHILLONG:The President of United Achik Youth Federation South West Khasi Hills Zone said Brensly Riangshiang, the agent of Lum Pyndengru lodged a complaint on April 17 against Tiperson Momin for illegal stone mining.Momin is the headmaster cum secretary of Khonjoy Upper Primary School. He formed an association namely Bagli export association. The president added that Momin is carrying out illegal stone mining from the land of Lum Pyndengru which belongs to Chamegong Riangshiang.
According to the complaint, Momin had been engaging himself as a president of the association which is not permissible as per the rule of government aided schools. The association requested the president and the managing committee of Khongjoy Upper Primary deficit school to take action against Momin for indulging in illegal activities.
Principal clarifies on Agatha remark
SHILLONG: The principal of Mendipathar College has clarified that the remark of two lecturers of the college, Thangkhan Ch Marak and Rakban G Momin on NPP candidate from Tura constituency Agatha Sangma was purely personal and had nothing to do with the college.
The principal in a statement said the college stands neutral to all political parties and it also acknowledges their contribution and support rendered from time to time for the development of the institution.
Dorbar slams HYC leader
SHILLONG: The Dorbar Shnong of Shella criticised Roy Kupar Synrem for his claims in social media that he is the secretary of Dorbar Shnong of Shella. In a statement issued here, secretary of Dorbar Shnong Shella, Wanteikupar Swett and president Ridarfus Sarubai pointed out that as per the customary practices of the Dorbar Shnong any member of any organization cannot be a member of the Dorbar Shnong. Synrem is currently holding the post of general secretary of Hynniewtrep Youth Council and is also a member of Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organisation and Confederation of Hynniewtrep Social Organisation. According to Swett, Synrem has violated the customary practice of the Dorbar Shnong. The Dorbar Shnong of Shella on April 23 has taken a resolution to elect new office bearers of the Dorbar Shnong on April 29 for the year 2019.
Teachers’ conference on April 27
SHILLONG: The All Meghalaya Primary School Teachers’ Association (AMPSTA) will hold its 7th Biennial Conference at Good Shepherd Secondary School playground, Lad Rymbai on April 27 at 11:30 am. In a statement issued here, the association said around 1000 delegates from the three district association – AGHPSTA, APSTA, JHLPSTA will be meeting together to discuss and adopt resolution on the pending demand of AMPSTA such as inclusion of the teachers appointed by the D/I and Administrator, implementation of ACP and DCRG etc. The chief guest at will be Minister of Social Welfare, Kyrmen Shylla.
Blood donation camp in Tura
TURA: An awareness programme on blood donation was organised at Don Bosco College of Tura on Wednesday in which students actively took part by donating blood for a noble cause. The camp was coordinated by the IQAQ of the college and National Service Scheme ( NSS) members. It was supervised by doctors and medical staff of the blood bank of Tura Civil Hospital. Earlier, Principal of the college, Fr. Bivan Mukhim apprised the gathering about the importance of donating blood which can lead to saving countless lives. He said that since blood is precious and rare it is very hard to get which is why donating one’s blood is a very important role for the youths.
National deworming day today
Shillong: National Deworming Day (NDD) will be observed in all schools and Anganwadi centres of East Khasi Hills District on April 25.Its aim is to intensify efforts towards eradicating soil transmitted helminths. The objective of State Deworming Day is to deworm all preschool and school age children between the ages of 1-19 years in order to improve their overall health, nutritional status, access to education and quality of life. It will also be followed by a mop-up-day on April 30 with the intent of deworming children, who missed the dose. All schools and anganwadi centres will be the implementation sites across the district. The office of the Additional District Medical & Health Officer, East Khasi Hills will launch National Deworming Day 2019 at Sacred Heart Girls Higher Secondary School, Shillong on April 25 at 10 am.
