SHILLONG: The attack on the police personnel by the pro-mining group on May 1 is reminiscent of the assault of social activists Agnes Kharshiing and Amita Sangma on November 8 last.
There was a demand from the activists and others for a judicial inquiry into the incident.
Sources said though the state government had assured to institute the probe, it waited for the outcome of the police inquiry.
An official admitted that the government has not moved the file to start judicial probe into the incident.
Besides, Amita had sought a CBI inquiry into the matter by filing a petition in the High Court of Meghalaya. The court, however, was happy with the police probe into the incident and recently closed the case after the police filed the charge sheet.
