SHILLONG: Following reports that some students appearing for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) were not allowed to sit for the examination here despite producing their admit cards, the Health and Family Welfare Minister, AL Hek on Tuesday said that he would approach the Central Board of School Education (CBSE) to set up another centre in Garo Hills.
Some parents in the social media has claimed that many students were not allowed to sit for examinations here in Shillong despite the fact that they came all the way from Garo Hills and they had all the documents including Admit card and others.
However, Hek on Tuesday said that the NEET examinations are conducted by the CBSE and State Government has no role in it.
“ They are our students and if they approach us with any complaints, we will definitely take necessary steps,” he said.
Stating that the State should have more centres like other North Eastern states which have 3-4 centres, he added that he will soon take up the matter with CBSE to setup some more examinations centres in Meghalaya particularly in Garo Hills
