Slow pace of road work irks locals

NONGPOH: The FKJGP, North Khasi Hills, met the Executive Engineer, Nongpoh Division, PWD irked over the snail-pace construction of the internal roads for which work order has been issued to the contractor.
During the meeting with B.M Syiem, the delegation led by general secretary Luistar Lyngdoh and presdient Ricky Majaw of Nongpoh Circle expressed their concern over the slow pace of work on many internal roads in Nongpoh area.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Lyngdoh said that the organisation had from time to time received various complaints from the general public over the deplorable condition of the roads and that the contractors allotted the work seemed to be asleep.
“Though the work order has already been released and allotted to the concerned contractors, but they are playing with the difficulties of the people, which is a matter of great concern,” Lyngdoh said.
The organisation has criticised the contractors who failed to start the road construction and also demanded that the PWD department cancel all the work orders and allot the work to other contractors who can take up speedy construction of these PWD roads for the welfare of the general people of the district.
