Two awarded for bravery in WKH

NONGSTOIN: Two persons from West Khasi Hills were awarded for their bravery in a felicitation programme held at Conference Hall, DC’s office in Nongstoin on Wednesday.
Shanlang Marbaniang of Madan Bynther village was awarded with the Jeevan Raksha Padak for saving the life of a minor girl from drowning in Kynshi river on April 17.
While 10-year-old Wallambok Sohphoh was also awarded with the same award for rescuing his brother from their burning house which caught on fire in December 12 at Mawduh village. The award comprises a cash award amounting to Rs one lakh and 1.5 lakh each respectively.
Medals, mementoes and certificate was also given by West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, T Lyngwa.
