FKJGP cautions against fake members after Pine Mount issue
SHILLONG: The Federation of Khasi-Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) has issued a statement condemning the action of an individual identified as Banshai Marbaniang who had claimed to be a member of the association.In a statement issued here on Thursday, the FKJGP confirmed that Banshai Marbaniang is not a member of the association and warned that the association would take strict action against false claims in the future.

Police-HNLC graffiti in Mawbah
SHILLONG: Goons have defaced some walls in Mawbah locality in the city with derogatory statements against Police and HNLC in the form of graffiti. The residents on Thurday noticed that some walls in Mawbah have been defaced with derogatory worlds like…. Police and HNLC in red paint. When contacted, the police said that they are looking into the matter and nothing can be ruled out. Police also said that it may be the handiwork of some disgruntled people but police are investigating into the matter.

NEHU science fest held
TURA: The North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) organised its Science Fest 2019 in collaboration with the District Administration of West Garo Hills at NEHU, Tura Campus on Wednesday. About 14 schools and colleges participated in the event including ICAR, Tura and Woodland Secondary School, Dalu. A quiz competition was also held during the day long programme. It may be mentioned that the students participating in the competition mainly focused on solid waste management system, water harvesting, solar lighting, terrace farming, and other innovative science projects. Speaking on the occasion, West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh advised the students to do their best in their studies and urged them to take up real projects in the future rather than the miniature models they have made and encouraged them to try  and implement solid waste management in small scale in Tura or in any agricultural rural area for a start.

School observes annual day
SHILLONG: Kendriya Vidyalaya Umroi Cantt celebrated its Annual Day at the Red Horn Auditorium in Umroi Military station on Thursday. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by Brig. Rajiv Kumar . SKL Varnwall, principal, presented the annual report in which he delienated all the programmes initiated by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and its implementation for the all-round development of students. He also underlined the academic achievements of students during board exams. Guest of honour Manisha Kumar distributed the certificates to position holders of curricular and co-curricular activities. A cultural programme was also held and concluded with the singing of the national anthem.
