SHILLONG: After a scorching week, the city can breathe easy as the weather office has predicted thunderstorm and rain on Sunday.
The city recorded 126 mm of rain on May 4 due to Cyclone Fani but the temperature stayed between 25°C and 28°C since last Sunday with May 10 (Friday) being the hottest day at 28°C.
The minimum temperature on the day was 17.2°C. The sky had been clear all through the week with the sun blazing at its worst over the city.
However, the India Meteorological Department, Shillong, said there is a cyclonic circulation over East Assam that may cause heavy rainfall in the city on Sunday.
