Police probe HNLC role in Pynursla man’s killing

SHILLONG: Police are examining the possible role of HNLC in the killing of a Pynursla resident on Sunday night.
According to police, two miscreants armed with AK-47 rifles shot dead Romeo Lyngdoh (50) at his residence at Lapalang, Pynursla.
The victim was brought dead at Civil Hospital, Shillong on Monday around 1:20 am.
Police said no one has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Eyewitnesses said that they saw two persons coming towards the downstream of the Bangladesh border along with AK-47 rifles.
When asked if HNLC is behind the incident, police said nothing can be ruled out and all angles are being investigated.
Empty cartridges were recovered from the site.
Police are also probing whether the deceased businessman has anything to do with HNLC as long time back, the militant outfit had used his vehicle for some activity.
