Bias charge against DMR
JOWAI: The Hynniewtrep Students’ Union and All Jaintia Students Union (AJSU) have protested against the DMR in Jaintia Hills for issuing coal transit challans only to two individuals and denying renewal of the challans of other coal traders in the district. According to the pressure groups, Bison Shylla and Tiew Shadap of Byndihati village were able to renew their transit challans for 35000 metric tonnes of the extracted coal from the office of the DMR, Jowai while others were denied. “Why the DMR does not want to renew the challans of other coal traders, why only to these two individuals’ challans were renewed? This shows that favouritism is very high in the DMR office, Jowai,” said PS Phawa, GS of AJSU.
