Policy on child hangs fire

SHILLONG: The chairperson of the State Commission for Protection of Child’s Rights, Meena Kharkongor, has said the commission is still in the dark about the Child Protection policy.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, Kharkongor said the policy has been discussed and the draft is still pending with the government.
She informed that a meeting of the Social Welfare Department has been called to get views on the policy which aims at safeguarding children.
She informed that the policy will cover all aspects of child’s rights and abuse like corporal punishment etc.
