Ri Bhoi DC inspects weighbridge

Nongpoh: In a surprise inspection against alleged illegal transportation of coal, Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi District, Rosetta Mary Kurbah accompanied by Superintendent of Ri Bhoi Police, C Syrti conducted checking of vehicle documents and challan at weigh bridge, Narang in Ri Bhoi on Wednesday.
It may be noted that Kurbah received complaints that several coal laden trucks were plying without proper challans which prompted her to personally visit the weighbridge to verify it.
During the inspection, it was found that there were no trucks transporting coal but only clinkers, cement and other goods and all of them had proper challans and documents for transporting the same to their respected destinations.
While speaking to media persons, Kurbah said that the checking was conducted as per the recent Supreme Court Order which allows transportation of coal from May 17 to 31.
It may also be mentioned, that following the Supreme Court order, the district administration had also deputed an officer at the weighbridge to properly check and detect any illegal transportation of coal.
