Anti narcotic task force in WGH
TURA: West Garo Hills SP informed that the Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) for the district has been constituted with a view to check and control the abuse and menace of the substance in the region. The main objective of the ANTF is to look into the matters relating to manufacturing, possession, purchase, transportation, inter-state movement of narcotics, drugs, psychotropic substance and controlled substances and to take necessary legal and preventive actions accordingly. Registration of labour force urged
TURA: The All Garo Hills Construction Material Suppliers and Workers Association has urged the government to ensure labourers coming from outside the state to work in Garo Hills should possess the required licenses and pay professional tax to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council. The association, in a letter to the government, stated that most labourers do not have valid identity proof which needed to be checked and also called upon the companies engaging with such a work force to ensure norms are followed by getting their registration done.

Rajiv Gandhi death anniv observed
TURA: The 21st death anniversary of former prime minister of India Late Rajiv Gandhi was observed by the West Garo Hills district congress committee and the Tura City congress committee on Tuesday in the Congress Bhawan in Tura in which party leaders and functionaries offered floral tributes to the departed leader who was assassinated in Sriperumbudur in 1991 while campaigning in South India.
