KSU opposes sale of land to BSF

SHILLONG: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), central executive council (CEC) opposed the move of the Raid Marwet and Hima Mylliem sell the land at Lakhra-Beltola to Border Security Force (BSF).
In a statement issued, general secretary of KSU Donald Thabah said the union has been informed that the land at Lakhra, which is about 1,000 hectare, was intended to give away to the BSF by the Hima Mylliem and the Raid Marwet at a whooping amount of Rs 1,000 crore.
He added that the land, that the two institutions want to sell to the BSF through an agent from the law clan, is a land falling under Hima Sohiong.
The union has warned people with vested interest to not sell off land belong to the Khasis to the defence forces as it is witnessed that most areas in the Hynniewtrep land is encroached by defence sector.
