With a vow to inculcate loving care for nature, fighting against pollution of mother earth and destruction of the environment, students delivered speeches on the theme “Action speaks louder than words” laying emphasis on the need for a united fight against environmental degradation.
They stressed on the importance of celebrating world environment day and the need to promote local and natural vegetation to promote a greener earth.
Don Bosco School Principal Fr Threnius N Sangma, who headed the team of students and teachers expressed deep concern about the the fast vanishing greenery and sought action oriented cooperation of the villagers before it became too late.
Supporting the initiative of Don Bosco, the village Nokma along with the elders and family heads of Aminda Simsang assured their support to the preservation and protection of the indigenous vegetation.
As part of the celebration, a variety of saplings of local indigenous species of trees were planted at several areas in and around the village.
