GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, who was on a visit to Sonitpur district on Thursday, reviewed the progress of the four-laning works of National Highways going on in the district with officials of NHIDCL and PWD at Tezpur Airport.
During the review, the Chief Minister expressed dissatisfaction over slow progress of four-laning works of National Highways in the district. He urged GM, NHIDCL to take necessary measures to expedite construction works and initiate action against all non-performing contractors at the earliest. He also urged the GM to take necessary steps for carrying out maintenance works on the roads till the four-laning work is over.
Moreover, the Chief Minister also instructed the Executive Engineer, PWD (NH), Nagaon Division to expedite the construction works on the NH from Tezpur to Kaliabor and take up necessary repairing on the stretch from Mission Chariali (Tezpur) to Jamuguri.
After reviewing the air connectivity at Tezpur airport with the Airport Director, the Chief Minister said he would discuss with authorities concerned to take appropriate steps to increase the number of regular flights to and from Tezpur and improve air travel facilities for the people.
