Ganja worth Rs 5 lakh seized, WKH youths held

GUWAHATI: Assam police intercepted two vehicles and seized a consignment of ganja weighing 37.5kg worth Rs 5 lakh at Sukurberia along the Assam-Meghalaya border on Wednesday. Four persons were detained in this regard of which two belong to West Khasi Hills in Meghalaya while the other two are from Assam.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, Rani police outpost in-charge, Bikram Basumatary said the four persons were trying to bring the ganja from Meghalaya to Assam when they were caught. “We have detained Poster Marwein (30) from Nongstoin, Jordan Lyngdoh (28) from Myreng, along with two youths from Assam, Durga Munda (26) and Rajuram Rabha (29) in connection with the seizure,” Basumatary said. Two vehicles, including a Maximo (AS-25AC-5695) and an Alto (ML-06-9080), which were used to transport the consignment, have been seized as well.
