SHILLONG: A day after women family members of three student leaders in Tura filed separate FIRs against former ANVC-B chairman Bernard Rimpu N Marak and his close associates for alleged forcible entry into their homes with intent to cause harm, the former leader has denied the allegations calling them fake, baseless, fabricated and a move to malign his image besides covering up the misdeeds done by the leaders of GSU (Tengsak faction), FKJGP, ADE, AYWO and All Garo Hills Archery Association.
He said the claims made by the three women related to these NGOs need a thorough investigation and the intentions behind the FIRs are staged by the members of the same NGOs.
He added that the family members of the complainants are making up a story blaming him for the entire drama.
Rimpu said that on Wednesday night, he was not with Wilver and did not go to anywhere except his office at Babupara and the Council quarter area to meet one public leader.
“The claim that I carried a weapon is absurd. I never carried a gun during my militancy days so why now? I am attending many cases in the court without fail to prove my innocence. So I know what it means to be framed and therefore I sincerely try to live a normal life within the agreement I signed,” Rimpu said.
He questioned the claim of a woman being half-dressed when the incident happened and why none of the leaders were at home if the raid really took place.
He also accused them of cooking up a story on instigation of the NGO leaders like Sengbath Chambugong, Dalseng Momin and other NGO members.
