NONGPOH: Headman of Baridua village in Ri-Bhoi district of Meghalaya was attacked by a group of more than 30 people led by one, Goldenstar Khongwar at his residence in Baridua.
The headman, Ioanis Narleng when contacted informed that a group of more than 30 people coming in four-five vehicles suddenly come to his residence at 3:30 PM on Wednesday evening and started beating him mercilessly without even allowing him to talk.
He also informed that he received serious injuries on parts of the head. One of the attackers whom he alleged as leader of the group, was identified as Goldenstar Khongwar. Narleng suspected that the attack on him was carried out a group of Khongwar who wanted to bifurcate Baridua village while villagers at large protested against such move.
Narleng also informed that an FIR in this regard had been lodged at Khanapara Police Station and urged the police department to take stringent actions against all those involved.
