SHILLONG: A day after the AICC general secretary in-charge Northeastern states, Luizinho Faleiro, asked the regional parties in the region to stay away from North East Democratic Alliance, different partners of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance have slammed him by saying they require no sermon.
Faleiro on Friday had said that the regional parties who are a part of the North East Democratic Alliance or NEDA in the short term are running the state but in the long term they are helping the BJP ruin the state.
Reacting to the statement, NPP state president WR Kharlukhi said that Falerio’s statement is like catching the fish by its tail and not by a fishing hook.
He said that Falerio is the in-charge of North East and the Congress lost terribly in the region and instead of giving sermon, he should introspect.
Stating that the Congress needs to reinvent itself in the context of present day politics, he added that if they want his advice they should look at the gazette of Late Prime Minister Rajeev Gandhi, “Rajeev’s India.”
An ally of the MDA in Meghalaya, BJP legislator and Health Minister AL Hek said that they have seen many political astrologers and fortune tellers like Faleiro and that the Congress at this juncture has nothing to do and therefore they are playing the role of the opposition.
Another ally of the MDA, NCP president Saleng Sangma said Faleiro does not know anything about North East and North East Democratic Alliance.
Reiterating that the state government is against the CAB and has expressed its opposition earlier and will continue to do so, Sangma said that they are all in the same boat in their opposition to the CAB. “If people don’t like it why should it be implemented,” he said.
He further said that there is no need for Faleiro to make any comment since the government and even the chief minister is opposed to enactment of the CAB.
