Rs 6 lakh compensation for electrocution victim

SHILLONG:The Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited has provided Rs 6 lakh to the wife of a victim of electrocution.
A case in this regard came up for hearing before the bench headed by Chief Justice Ajay Kumar Mittal on Wednesday. The petitioner had claimed the compensation due to death caused by electrocution from a snapped live electric wire on the road side.
The petitioner’s husband, Tarsing B Marak died on June 1, 2016.
Earlier, the case was heard on June 10 and the MeECL submitted that the petitioner has agreed for payment of Rs 6 lakh as compensation.
Later, MeECL through an affidavit on Wednesday said that on June 12, a cheque of Rs 6 lakh has been given to the petitioner.
