TURA: Organisations from East Garo Hills which began their two-day office picketing of the deputy commissioner’s office, demanding the appointment of a full-fledged Principal at Williamnagar Government College, on Tuesday called off their agitation midway after assurance was given that their demands would be fulfilled within three weeks.
The GSU, FAF, AAYF and others had sat for the demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office at 10 am, only to disperse by 12 pm after the written assurance was given by the DC. The organisations have been demanding the appointment of a regular principal at the college since February this year after the then Principal retired on January 31.
The DC urged the department to make best efforts to ensure that the administrative post be filled as soon as possible.
