5th Meghalaya State Shooting Championship held in city

SHILLONG: The 5th Meghalaya State Shooting Championship concluded on Sunday at the Assam Regimental Centre shooting ranges. The two-day event, held from July 6 to 7, was organised by the Shooting Association of Meghalaya under the aegis of the National Rifle Association of India and witnessed the participation of nearly 30 shooters.
The event was organised as part of preparations for several upcoming shooting events to be held at the national level.The winners at the event included Toiaibha Mylliempdah who secured the gold medal in the women’s 10 metre Air pistol, Balarishisha Rani, Silver and Shirley M Kharbuli, Bronze. L.H Nengboi Kipgen secured the Gold in the women’s senior 10 metre air rifle, Anjali Singh, Silver and Alice Gangte, Bronze. In the 25 metre Sports Pistol Women, Shirley M Kharbuli secured the Gold, Balarishisha Rani, Silver and Toiaibha Mylliempdah the Bronze. In the 50 metre Rifle Prone Women, Amalisa N Sangma bagged the Gold, Anjali Singh the Silver and Veronica Buhroy the Bronze. , Kaisuanmang bagged the Gold in the men’s junior 10 metre Air pistol, Reuben Neihsial the Silver and Thotsem Makan the Bronze.
In the 50 metre Free Pistol Men, Davis N.R. Marak secured the Gold, Walsall M Momin, the Silver and Pynkhraw Kharshiieng, the Bronze. In the 10 metre Air Rifle Men, Dennyson Kyrsian bagged the Gold, Wanpliborlang Nongsiej, the Silver and Banrilang Bleine the Bronze. In the 10 metre Air Rifle Men (Junior), the Gold was bagged by AS Yangmipam, Silver by Uttam Sinha and the Bronze by TH Apao. In the 25 metre Centre Fire Pistol Men, Davis N R Marak bagged the Gold, Walsall M Momin, Silver and Pynkhraw Kharshiieng the Bronze.
In the 25 metre Standard Pistol Men, Walsall M Momin secured the Gold medal, John TH, Silver and Pyngkhraw Kharshiieng, Bronze. In the 10 metre Air Pistol Men, Davis N R Marak bagged the Gold, Pynkhraw Kharshiieng, Silver and John TH, Bronze. In the 50 metre Rifle Prone, Men, Dennyson Kyrsian, secured the Gold, Banrilang Bleine the Silver and Mawdaker Marwein the Bronze medal.
Speaking as the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony, Sports Minister, Banteidor Lyngdoh assured that state government  would provide support to the development of sports  in the state and that the Government is serious to bring all round development of youth in sports.
