Land bill should be recalled: MDC

Shillong: The MDCs of Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) went to meet the deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong to urge the government to recall the land bill passed by the KHADC on 2014. The bill is the process of free registration of land of local indigenous people , especially those residing near border areas.
KHADC CEM Teinwell Dkhar said the MDCs spoke about the Land Bill which should be recalled to be re-examined by the KHADC.
“We have spoken on other Bills passed by the KHADC which deals with Hima, Elaka etc,” he said.
On the other hand, EM in charge of land, Titos Chyne said the MDCs also discussed on the financial package allocated by the union government which the state government is set to release soon.
