JE claims another life in Hailakandi district

GUWAHATI: Japanese Encephalitis (JE) snuffed out the life of another victim in Hailakandi district on Tuesday. 

Montu Das of Tempur village admitted at Silchar Medical College and Hospital died after undergoing treatment for a week.  With this, two persons lost their lives of JE in the district. 

The health authorities here said that 4 JE positive cases and 14 Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) cases have been detected in the district. Total 48,522 fever cases have been screened so far. 

District Media Expert Monika Das informed that blood slides samples are being taken daily and 17,355 mosquito nets impregnated. 

Fogging operations are going on in vulnerable villages. DVB consultants, MTS, SW and MPW functionaries are visiting different parts of the district to keep the virus under check.  Awareness campaigns are also being carried out across the district.
