Assam police arrest 3 JMB operatives

Guwahati: The police have arrested three Jamat-Ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) operatives in the Barpeta district of Assam.
According to the police on Wednesday, three JMB operatives were arrested from different areas of the district in the past 24 hours.
Based on a tip-off, the police first arrested Hafizur Rahman from Karagari village under the Bhabanipur police station on Tuesday. Later Yakub Ali and Sariful Islam were arrested from Koyakuchi Pam village in the district. “We have also recovered a pistol and four live rounds of ammunition from Hafizur,” the police said and added, Hafizur was a trained bomb expert.
“He was working as a bakery hawker and was involved in JMB activities in the Barpeta and Baksa districts,” the police said.
Hafizur was involved in recruiting fresh operatives for the JMB in Assam. (IANS)
