More leaders visit Jaitley
New Delhi: Several leaders including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and Union ministers Smriti Irani and Ram Vilas Paswan visited AIIMS on Sunday to enquire about the health condition of former finance minister Arun Jaitley, who is on life support system. Jaitley, 66, was admitted on August 9 after he complained of breathlessness and restlessness. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has not issued any bulletin on Jaitley’s health condition since August 10. Several prominent leaders have been visiting the hospital in recent days to know about his wellbeing. Among those who visited the hospital on Sunday were Himachal Pradesh Governor Kalraj Mishra, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Joint General Secretary Dr Krishna Gopal and former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh. On Saturday also several politicians visited the hospitals to check on his health. Health Minister Harsh Vardhan had said on Friday, “Doctors at AIIMS are doing the best they can.” President Ram Nath Kovind, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had visited AIIMS on Friday to check on the leader’s health. Yogi likely to reshuffle Cabinet today
Lucknow: The much-awaited Cabinet reshuffle of the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh is likely to take place on Monday evening. According to sources, half a dozen new ministers will be sworn in and legislators from western Uttar Pradesh are likely to get a place in the Ministry. Some ministers are likely to be dropped, while some may have to undergo a change of portfolio. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Uttar Pradesh BJP President Swatantra Dev Singh had on Friday met BJP working President J.P. Nadda in Delhi to decide the details of the reshuffle. On Saturday evening, Yogi met state Governor Anandiben Patel to inform her in this regard. The Yogi Cabinet at present has 43 ministers — 21 Cabinet ministers, nine ministers of state with independent charge and 13 ministers of state. The Ministry has 17 vacancies. (IANS)


Stalkers run bike over girl’s head
Sultanpur (Uttar Pradesh): A group of stalkers accosted a 16-year-old girl returning from her school in Sultanpur and then drove a motorbike over her head and smashed her skull when she raised an alarm. The police refused to lodge an FIR for days and the doctors did not provide treatment to the girl as there was no police record of the incident. The incident took place on August 8 and the girl, after days of struggle, died on August 14. Her grandfather said that the KGMU Hospital in Lucknow refused to look after the girl and the family was forced to take her to a private hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The inspector of Lambhua police station, Sanjay Singh, has been suspended in this connection. (IANS)

Fake currency notes seized in Kolkata
Kolkata: The special task force of the Kolkata Police has seized fake Indian currency notes (FICN) of the total face value of Rs 1,92,000, a senior officer said on Sunday. Based on prior information, the officers intercepted one Malda based FICN racketeer namely Yusuf Sekh (21), from Strand road near Babu Ghat bus Stand on Saturday night. “FICN amounting to Rs 1,92,000 face value, consisting of 96 notes of Rs 2,000 have been seized from his possession,” the officer said. Sekh has been booked under various sections of the IPC. (IANS)


Spa sex racket busted in Mumbai
Mumbai: The crime branch has busted a sex racket being operated from a spa centre in suburban Vile Parle and rescued six Thai women after conducting a raid, police said, adding the owner and the manager have been arrested. Sleuths of unit-9 of crime branch seized Rs 1.23 lakh, a laptop, a swipe machine, three voucher books and some documents from ‘The Thai Villa’, located at Rishi Building on Dixit Road, on Saturday evening, an official said on Sunday. The rescued women were found to be in possession of tourist and business visas, he said. A case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA). Vile Parle police are investigating the case. (PTI)
