HRD min confers M’laya teacher with National Teacher’s Innovation Award

Shillong/Jowai: HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal recently conferred the Teacher Innovation Award-2019 to a teacher who hails from the state in New Delhi.
Niawki Samati, a teacher from Lummynso UP SSA School, Ummulong in West Jaintia Hills, who took an initiative through her selfless effort in Community Participation, was honoured with a Certificate of Excellence during the Silver Jubilee function organised by the National Council for Teacher Education.
Samati said that she could achieve this award because of the platform and recognition that Zero Investment Innovations for Education Initiatives (ZIIEI) has given her as well as the initiative taken by Sri Aurobindo Society, Rupantar and supported by HDFC Bank.
This school is under the Quality Support Programme of Bharti Foundation which was the main source of strength and inspiration that moulded the students, teachers, parents and the community to be active and co-operative.
The district officials including the Sub Divisional School Education Officer (SDSEO), West Jaintia Hills, EF Shullai, congratulated Samati and hoped that through this innovative idea, other teachers and students would be inspired to do something for the benefit of the community as well as the future generation.
The District Mission Coordinator of SEMAM-SSA, West Jaintia Hills, LM Darnei also expressed her joy and congratulated Samati for winning a national-level award which is a matter of pride and joy for the district and state as a whole.
Samati expressed her gratitude to the founder of the school, Leo Laloo, who is also the village headman of Ummulong for his encouragement and vision.
She also thanked the head teacher, staff, students and the community. She further thanked the Bharti Foundation for its support.
