MAWKYRWAT: South West Khasi Hills District was awarded the National Incentive Award for Poshan Abhiyaan in the category ‘District Level Leadership and Convergence’ in New Delhi on Friday.
The award was received by the Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills District, Isawanda Laloo, from the Union Minister in-charge of Women & Child Development, Smriti Zubin Irani, at an awards ceremony where a number of Excellence Awards were given to different states, agencies and individuals for achievement in the Poshan Abhiyaan in different categories.
The DC said that the District Level Convergence and Leadership Award awarded to the district is a recognition of the robust teamwork of all concerned line departments including Health, Education, PHE, C&RD, Agriculture & Horticulture, DPRO and particularly the dedicated effort put in by the District Programme Officer (DPO), ICDS and Child Development Pgrogramme Officer (CDPO) on the ground.
Award is for them and all the hard-working field functionaries, right from Anganwadi workers, ASHAs, ANMs, helpers and supervisors for working hard to ensure reduction of stunting and malnutrition, nutritional well-being, timely vaccination and monitoring of all children and pregnant mothers.
Laloo lauded the District Programme Officer, Matti Wanniang, for her untiring efforts and CDPO Haley Sahkhar for mobilising and leading all field level workers, while also congratulating the block teams and field workers of Mairang, Resubelpara and Umsning who also carried home awards.
“We are motivated to work harder to raise the standard of health and nutrition of our children,” she said.
