SHILLONG: The High Court of Meghalaya Guest House Rules and the High Court of Meghalaya Officers and Staff (Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2019 were published in the official gazette under the orders of Chief Justice Ajay Kumar Mittal.
In the HC guest house, a fixed rate of Rs 300 per day is charged for Chief Justice and Judges of the Supreme Court of India and/or their families/ guests, Chief Justice and Judges of the High Court of Meghalaya and/or their families/ guests, retired Chief Justice and Judges of the Supreme Court of India/ High Court of Meghalaya and/or their families, Chief Justices and Judges of other High Courts having reciprocal arrangement with the High Court of Meghalaya and/or their families, any other dignitary with specific approval of the Chief Justice/Judge-in- Charge.
An official statement said that since the state government had recently created few posts for the High Court registry for which the old recruitment and conditions of service rules of 2013 did not prescribe the mode of appointment, a need was felt that the recruitment and conditions of service rules be drafted afresh.
Besides, a more streamlined mechanism governing disciplinary proceedings has been introduced in the Rules of 2019.
