Khliehriat: The Deputy Commissioner of East Jaintia Hills District, F M Dopth launched the Swachh Survekshan Grameen at Community Hall in Khliehriat West on Friday.
Addressing the gathering, Dopth urged the parents to educate their children as education is one of the main tools to create awareness on cleanliness.
Dopth also said the government under the Swachh Bharat Mission has been implementing schemes in providing toilets, waste management activities in order to create a clean and healthy environment.
He also raised a concern over the waste disposal from houses in market places and in other public places and urged the people to make it a habit to keep surroundings clean.
He said that the SSG mobile app will not only be cleanliness rating tool in the district but will also create awareness about sanitation and cleanliness.
W. Buam said that the objective of the campaign is to conduct national ranking of all states and districts of India.
He said the government aims at 100 per cent coverage in providing toilets to the households in rural areas. Buam also demonstrated the procedures and steps on how to use the SSG mobile app.
A short presentation was also made by Khrawkupar Suja, Sanitation Engineer, State Swachh Bharat Mission on the topic Organic Waste Converter and technology used for converting organic waste into high quality compost.
