Shillong: The North East Slow Food and Agrobiodiversity Society (NESFAS) has informed that it will be participating in the walkathon/prabhatferi programme which is being organised by the National Health Commission on September 17 at the Moreau Institute of Integral Training (MIIT) in Cleve Colony.
The Ayushman Bharat Pakhwara (fortnight) will be observed from September 15 to October 2 to mark the one-year implementation of the scheme. The main objective of the celebration is to increase awareness about Ayushman Bharat and reach out to beneficiaries with information about the availing services that are available.
“We believe in building a healthy and secure future through its programmes, under the REC funded No One Shall Be Left Behind Initiative,” NESFAS said in a press release.
“We support Ayushman Bharat by sharing on this platform its campaigns on ‘Healthy Today, Secure Tomorrow’ which work to promote the high nutritive values in the indigenous food system, 1000 days food 10 group consumption for expectant and young mothers, hygiene for health through WASH campaign, youth role in preserving the indigenous food systems, food diversity and several more initiatives,” it added.
NESFAS will also be setting up an information, education and communication (IEC) stall for various health programmes, including a dietary diversity score screening for participants. Several games will also be held at the same time to test the participants’ knowledge on indigenous food systems.
