Meeting for conservation of Photsala stream

MAWKYRWAT: The deputy commissioner’s office and District Swachh Bharat Mission, South West Khasi Hills organised a meeting for the District Level Task Force for Conservation of Photsala stream, Mawkyrwat, adoption of guidelines for clean and sustainable use of the river stream, saying no to single-use plastic and Swachhata Hi Seva, 2019 at Photsala stream on Tuesday.
The meeting discussed on how to protect the stream by following the guidelines laid down by the committee so as to ensure that the catchment areas are looked after and monitored thoroughly through the district action plan which will be framed for the purpose.
Block Development Officer of Mawkyrwat C&RD Block, R. Kharbihkhiew, said that the preservation and conservation of Photsala stream is the need of the hour to ensure that the catchment areas are protected.
The BDO also suggested that awareness programmes should be organised from time to time in order to make the people realize of the seriousness of this issue.
Meanwhile, Sub-Divisional Officer, PHE Mawkyrwat, R. Nongdhar reminded about the danger of plastics.
District Programme Officer, Basin Development Unit, Sywel Lyngdoh briefed the gathering about the action plans made by the District Task Force Committee.
